Last time, we asked our followers on Instagram to DM us with any questions they might have for Ana, our Creative Director, with respect to the newly launched Angkasa: Sinar collection. In addition to sharing her responses on our Instagram Stories, we’ve documented here on our blog too. Follow our Instagram for more real-time updates on what we’re up to.
Continue reading below to get to know the process behind the collection.
What's the inspiration behind this collection?
A: A tough year and what it takes to keep believing in yourself: your inner light and how it can light others. Urip iku urup = We live to bring light. I translated this idea with something quite literal–a predominantly dark collection with sparks of light in unexpected places, suggesting that even in the darkest moments, there are glimmers of hope, inspiration and positive experiences. This juxtaposition of darkness and light serves as the perfect metaphor for the complexity of life and the potential for personal growth and transformation.
HA! I’m getting a bit carried away there.
How long did the process take from sketch until the launch?
A: A LONG TIME! This collection had been in the making for exactly a year and it was actually not linear. There were a lot of going back and forth, trial and error, pivoting, sweat and tears, you name it.
What was the most challenging part from the entire process?
A: The pushbacks.
But despite all the challenges and setbacks, I think, in the end, the Universe knows better. I believe there’s a cosmic plan at play that ensures when to launch the collection. Trusting the process–all the delays and obstacles might have been necessary for a reason.
Not a question, just wanted to say you did an awesome job. Congrats! <3
A: Thank you and sending lots of sinar your way.
Which is your favorite piece?
A: I love all of them equally! At the end of the day, you can’t have just one favourite child!
