Since Day 1, we have had a No-Plastic Policy for our packaging and shipping at SukkhaCitta. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done. And this decision has created numerous headaches and practical bottlenecks.
Like when paper boxes tear during shipping or get wet from rain - which compromises the fabrics inside.
So our Ibus (i.e. Indonesian word for mothers, plural form) put their thinking hats together to develop prototypes of reusable bags. Tailored specifically to several sizes to fit our folded fabrics, crafted from recycled tarps.
After two months of trialing these bags, we've successfully reduced waste by creating a continuous loop of reuse for shipments from and to our villages! 🥺🤍
This journey highlights the power of empowering women as active agents of change. While achieving 100% ethical practices is a tough challenge—and we’re not there yet—we're determined to keep pushing forward.
It’s a long journey filled with unexpected twists and industry challenges, but we’re ready to address them head-on. To find simple solutions that work. And be surprised along the way by the power of human ingenuity and creativity.
