Earlier this year, we took on an exciting project by Mandiri Utama Finance. They came to us with an exciting mission to find wardrobe options for their annual company photoshoot with the board of directors and commissioners. Through this project, they aim to show support for the hard work and dedication of women artisans in Indonesia and the conservation of our indigenous crafts that are getting recognition by corporations more and more.
Immediately, they were drawn to our Beskap pieces as the style resonated with the photoshoot’s theme – of celebrating our local heritage and culture. Comprising mostly men in the group, the ANGKASA Sinar Beskap was a big hit, along with our KAPAS Beskap. Additionally, the PAGISENJA Heritage Blazer and ANYAM Beskap were also selected.
This collaboration is a demonstration of the commitment and action that corporations can make to show support for smallholder farmers and women artisans, and support for the conservation of our indigenous crafts that are currently at stake. With this simple choice – of choosing where your clothes come from – you are contributing to the development of the local economy in these rural Indonesian villages. Together, we’re excited to create impact-driven values and inspire similar actors to take action.
